INFECTIMMUNOLOGY PROCEDURES
It is mandatory to present your medical prescription to be able to carry out the tests.
If you are a pregnant woman or if you suspect that you may be so, or if you are breast-feeding,
please notify it to our health staff before performing any test.
All nuclear medicine tests involve the administration of a radiopharmaceutical
with a very low dose of radioactivity, which is eliminated in the following hours through the urinary or digestive routes.
The access of companions to the center is allowed in the case of children and patients who require special attention.
The rest of the patients can come accompanied but, as a health precaution during the pandemic and depending on
the capacity of the waiting room and the criteria of our staff, it is possible that
the companion cannot wait inside the center.

LABELED LEUKOCYTES SCINTIGRAPHY FOR THE
STUDY OF INTESTINAL INFLAMMATORY DISEASES
DESCRIPTION: Evaluation of the distribution of labeled leukocytes in intestinal and infectious inflammatory processes.
PREPARATION: A 6-hour minimum fasting is recommended. Fasting is mandatory in case of inflammatory bowel disease. Fasting must be maintained during the procedure in cases of inflammatory bowel disease and abdominal disorders.
INDICATIONS: Study of inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, etc.) and abdominal septic processes.
DURATION OF PROCEDURE: 4 hours.
18F-FDG PET-CT FOR THE DETECTION OF
INFLAMMATORY AND INFECTIOUS PROCESSES
DESCRIPTION: Detection of areas with inflammatory or infectious phenomena in non-soft tissues.
PREPARATION: Six-hour fasting required. Good hydration required.
INDICATIONS: Sarcoidosis. Peripheral osteomyelitis (excluding postoperative osteomyelitis and diabetic foot). Suspected prosthetic infection. Suspicion of spinal infection (vertebral osteomyelitis, spondylodiscitis or discitis, excluding postoperative infection). Assessment of classical fever of unknown origin. Evaluation of metastatic and bacterial infections. Initial evaluation of vasculitis. Evaluation of polycystic diseases. Suspected infection of intravascular devices, pacemakers and catheters. Detection of opportunistic infections in patients with HIV, associated tumors or Castelman’s disease.
DURATION OF PROCEDURE: 90 minutes.
LABELED LEUKOCYTES SCINTIGRAPHY
FOR THE STUDY OF INFECTIONS
LABELED LEUKOCYTES SCINTIGRAPHIC SCAN
LABELED LEUKOCYTES TOMOGRAPHY SPECT-TC
DESCRIPTION: Evaluation of the distribution of labeled leukocytes in intestinal and infectious inflammatory processes.
PREPARATION: A 6-hour minimum fasting is recommended. Fasting is mandatory in case of inflammatory bowel disease. Fasting must be maintained during the procedure in cases of inflammatory bowel disease and abdominal disorders.
INDICATIONS: Detection and localization of infections (abscesses at any location, osteoarticular, osteosynthetic or joint prosthetic infections, vascular prosthetic infections, Diagnosis of fever of unknown origin). Location, evaluation of the extent and degree of activity of inflammatory bowel disease.
DURATION OF PROCEDURE: From 4 to 8 hours.

MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES SCINTIGRAPHY
IMMUNOSCINTIGRAPHIC SCAN
MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES
SCINTIGRAPHIC SCAN
DESCRIPTION: Evaluation of the distribution of antigranulocytic-antibodies-labeled granulocytes in bone and osteoarthritic infectious processes.
PREPARATION: No preparation is required.
INDICATIONS: Evaluation of bone and osteoarthritic infectious processes.
DURATION OF PROCEDURE: 4 hours.
Ga-67 BONE SCINTIGRAPHY
Ga-67 SCINTIGRAPHIC SCAN
Ga-67 TOMOSCINTIGRAPHY (SPET/SPET-TC)
DESCRIPTION: Evaluation of inflammatory/infectious/tumoral activity.
PREPARATION: The use of laxatives is recommended when the detection involves abdominal organs, in order to reduce traffic to the colon. It is advisable to suppress iron (Fe) administration 48 hours before radiotracer administration and up to 48 hours later. As long as the procedure is underway, administration of gadolinium should be avoided in case an MR is to be practiced.
INDICATIONS: Evaluation of patients with Hodgkin’s disease and non-Hodgkin lymphomas, both in the assessment of pretreatment tumor uptake, control of therapeutic response (differential diagnosis of tumor activity versus residual mass), detection of recurrences and evaluation of the extent of the disease. Detection and localization of other tumors (sarcomas). Evaluation of patients with AIDS. Evaluation of sarcoidosis, fibrosis and chronic infections (chronic osteomyelitis). Diagnosis and localization of pulmonary infections. Evaluation of pulmonary interstitial diseases (specifically sarcoidosis and fibrosis).
Ga-67 LUNG SCINTIGRAPHY
Ga-67 TOMOSCINTIGRAPHY (SPET/SPET-TC)
DESCRIPTION: Evaluation of inflammatory and infectious activity at lung level.
PREPARATION: No previous preparation is necessary. No fasting is required. The patient must return 48 hours later for the imaging session.
INDICATIONS: Diagnosis and localization of pulmonary infections. Evaluation of pulmonary interstitial infections (specifically, sarcoidosis and fibrosis). Evaluation of AIDS patients.
DURATION OF PROCEDURE: 2 days.
