PNEUMOLOGY PROCEDURES
It is mandatory to present your medical prescription to be able to carry out the tests.
If you are a pregnant woman or if you suspect that you may be so, or if you are breast-feeding,
please notify it to our health staff before performing any test.
All nuclear medicine tests involve the administration of a radiopharmaceutical
with a very low dose of radioactivity, which is eliminated in the following hours through the urinary or digestive routes.
The access of companions to the center is allowed in the case of children and patients who require special attention.
The rest of the patients can come accompanied but, as a health precaution during the pandemic and depending on
the capacity of the waiting room and the criteria of our staff, it is possible that
the companion cannot wait inside the center.

RIGHT-LEFT SHORT CIRCUIT SCINTIGRAPHY
DESCRIPTION: Study of right-left short circuits.
PREPARATION: No special preparation needed.
INDICATIONS: Evaluation of right-left shunts performing whole-body scan with MAA.
DURATION OF PROCEDURE: 15 minutes.
Ga-67 LUNG SCINTIGRAPHY
Ga-67 LUNG TOMOSCINTIGRAPHY (SPET/SPET-CT)
DESCRIPTION: Evaluation of lung inflammatory and infectious activity.
PREPARATION: No previous preparation is needed. No fasting is required. The patient must return 48 hours later for the imaging session.
INDICATIONS: Diagnosis and localization of pulmonary infections. Evaluation of pulmonary interstitial infections (specifically, sarcoidosis and fibrosis). Evaluation of AIDS patients.
DURATION OF PROCEDURE: 2 days.
PERFUSION LUNG SCINTIGRAPHY
DESCRIPTION: Evaluation of regional pulmonary blood flow distribution. Quantification of regional pulmonary blood flow.
PREPARATION: No previous preparation is needed. No fasting is required.
INDICATIONS: Diagnosis of pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE). Study of regional pulmonary perfusion. Quantification of bilateral and regional pulmonary perfusion. Quantification of left-right short circuits. Quantification of systemic short circuit secondary to pulmonary arteriovenous fistulae or right-left cardiac shunt. Pre-surgical evaluation in case of pulmonary neoplasias, transplants, etc.
DURATION OF PROCEDURE: 20 minutes.

VENTILATION LUNG SCINTIGRAPHY
DESCRIPTION: Evaluation of pulmonary regional ventilation. Quantification of regional pulmonary ventilation.
PREPARATION: No previous preparation is necessary. No fasting required. It can not be performed in patients with assisted breathing.
INDICATIONS: Diagnosis of pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE). Study of obstructive pulmonary pathology, BNCO, COPD, emphysema, noise and bronchiectasis. Evaluation of lungs regional ventilation. If quantified: pre-surgical evaluation in cases of pulmonary neoplasia, transplants, etc.
DURATION OF PROCEDURE: 30 minutes.
LUNG SCINTIGRAPHY WITH SOMATOSTATIN RECEPTORS (111In-OCTEOTRIDE)

LUNG TOMOGRAPHY (SPET/SPET-CT) WITH SOMATOSTATIN RECEPTORS
DESCRIPCIÓN: Evaluation of somatostatin receptors activity in lung tumors.
PREPARACIÓN: No previous preparation required. The patient will remain in fasting during the procedure. No scans with barium or iodine contrast should be performed during the procedure.
INDICACIONES: Evaluation of tumors that express somatostatin receptors (extension study, follow-up, control of therapeutic response and recurrence detection): neuroendocrine tumors, such as carcinoid, lung cancer, etc.
DURATION OF PROCEDURE: 2 days.
DESCRIPCIÓN: Tomographic evaluation of lung perfusion and ventilation.
PREPARACIÓN: No previous preparation is necessary. No fasting is required.
