RADIO-GUIDED SURGERY PROCEDURES
It is mandatory to present your medical prescription to be able to carry out the tests.
If you are a pregnant woman or if you suspect that you may be so, or if you are breast-feeding,
please notify it to our health staff before performing any test.
All nuclear medicine tests involve the administration of a radiopharmaceutical
with a very low dose of radioactivity, which is eliminated in the following hours through the urinary or digestive routes.
The access of companions to the center is allowed in the case of children and patients who require special attention.
The rest of the patients can come accompanied but, as a health precaution during the pandemic and depending on
the capacity of the waiting room and the criteria of our staff, it is possible that
the companion cannot wait inside the center.

DESCRIPTION:
Evaluation of the lymphatic drainage of a neoplasm (melanoma, breast cancer, head and neck, vulva, cervix, colon or rectum, thyroid, among others).
PREPARATION:
Prior to surgery (between 4 and 24 hours before), a lymphogammagraphy with intra-or peritumoral injection (or retro-steroid in the case of the breast) should be performed to get the images of the sentinel lymph node.
INDICATIONS:
Intraoperative detection of the sentinel lymph node, the first lymphatic drainage node of the territory where the invasive primary tumor is located.
DURATION OF PROCEDURE:
1 day.
SENTINEL LYMPH NODE
LYMPHOSCINTIGRAPHY
SPET-TC FOR SENTINEL
LYMPH NODE DETECTION
DESCRIPTION:
Evaluation of the lymphatic drainage for the location of the sentinel lymph node.
PREPARATION:
- No preparation needed.
- No fasting needed.
INDICATIONS:
Sentinel lymph node detection.
DURATION OF PROCEDURE:
2 to 3 hours.
SURGICAL RADIO-DETECTION
(NON-SENTINEL)
DESCRIPTION:
Surgical radio-detection of malignant tissues by means of a probe.
PREPARATION:
Variable according to pathology. Please ask us.
INDICATIONS:
Radio-guided surgery involves the use of various radiopharmaceuticals administered to the patient prior to the surgical procedure, to help the surgeon in it. Some indications are breast neo (ROLL), surgery for hyperparathyroidism (with 99mTc-MIBI), DTC surgery (with 131I/123I/18F-FDG) and surgery of neuroendocrine tumors (Octreotide, MIBG).
DURATION OF PROCEDURE:
Variable según la patología. Please ask us.
