Infectious and immune disorders

Detection of infectious and inflammatory processes using biological markers, essential for planning therapeutic decisions.

A medical prescription is required in order to carry out the tests. As these are Nuclear Medicine procedures, the scans involve the administration of a very low-dose radioactive drug, which is eliminated over the following hours via the urinary or digestive tract. Before any scan, the procedure will be explained to you and you will be given a specific information sheet. If you are a woman and are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are breastfeeding, please inform the healthcare staff before the scan. Patients under 18 or those requiring special care must always be accompanied.
Labelled leucocyte scintigraphy for the study of infections
INMUNO-01 · 02 · 03

Labelled leucocyte scintigraphy for the study of infections / Labelled leucocyte whole-body scan / Labelled leucocyte tomography (SPECT-CT)

Description: Assessment of the distribution of labelled leucocytes in inflammatory and infectious processes.

Preparation

  • A fast of at least 6 hours is recommended.
  • Fasting is essential for inflammatory bowel disease. In this condition and in abdominal disorders, fasting must be maintained for the duration of the scan.

Indications

  • Detection and localisation of infections (abscesses at any site; osteoarticular infections, infections of osteosynthesis material or joint prostheses; vascular prosthesis infections; as part of the diagnostic work-up of fever of unknown origin).
  • Localisation and assessment of the extent and degree of activity of inflammatory bowel disease.

Test duration

From 4 to 8 hours.

Monoclonal antibody scintigraphy
INMUNO-04 · 05 · 06

Monoclonal antibody scintigraphy / Immunoscintigraphic whole-body scan / Monoclonal antibody whole-body scan

Description: Assessment of the distribution of granulocytes labelled with anti-granulocyte antibodies in bone and osteoarticular infectious processes.

Preparation

  • No prior preparation is required.

Indications

  • Assessment of bone and osteoarticular infectious processes.

Test duration

4 hours.

18F-FDG PET-CT for the detection of inflammatory and infectious processes
INMUNO-07

¹⁸F-FDG PET-CT for the detection of inflammatory and infectious processes

Description: Detection of areas of inflammation or infection in tissues other than soft tissue.

Preparation

  • A fast of 6 hours.
  • Good hydration.

Indications

  • Sarcoidosis.
  • Peripheral osteomyelitis (excluding post-operative osteomyelitis and diabetic foot).
  • Suspected prosthetic infection.
  • Suspected spinal infection (vertebral osteomyelitis, spondylodiscitis or discitis, excluding post-operative cases).
  • Assessment of classic fever of unknown origin.
  • Assessment of metastatic infection and bacteraemia.
  • Initial assessment of vasculitis.
  • Assessment of polycystic disease.
  • Suspected infection of intravascular devices, pacemakers and catheters.
  • Detection of opportunistic infections in patients with HIV, associated tumours or Castleman disease.

Test duration

90 minutes.

Labelled leucocyte scintigraphy for the study of inflammatory bowel disease
INMUNO-08

Labelled leucocyte scintigraphy for the study of inflammatory bowel disease

Description: Assessment of the distribution of labelled leucocytes in inflammatory and infectious bowel processes.

Preparation

  • A fast of at least 6 hours is recommended.
  • Fasting is essential for inflammatory bowel disease. In this condition and in abdominal disorders, fasting must be maintained for the duration of the scan.

Indications

  • Study of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, etc.) and abdominal septic processes.

Test duration

4 hours.

Bone scintigraphy with 67Ga
INMUNO-09 · 10 · 11

Bone scintigraphy with ⁶⁷Ga / Whole-body bone scan with ⁶⁷Ga / Bone tomoscintigraphy (SPECT/SPECT-CT) with ⁶⁷Ga

Description: Assessment of inflammatory, infectious or tumour activity.

Preparation

  • When imaging involves abdominal organs, the use of laxatives is recommended to reduce colonic activity.
  • It is advisable to stop iron (Fe) supplements 48 hours before the administration of the radiopharmaceutical and for 48 hours afterwards.
  • For the duration of the test, gadolinium administration must be avoided if an MRI is performed.

Indications

  • Assessment of patients with Hodgkin's disease and non-Hodgkin lymphomas (assessment of pre-treatment tumour uptake; monitoring of therapeutic response in the differential diagnosis of active tumour versus residual mass; detection of recurrence and staging of the disease).
  • Detection and localisation of other tumours (sarcomas).
  • Assessment of patients with AIDS.
  • Assessment of sarcoidosis, fibrosis and chronic infections (chronic osteomyelitis).
  • Diagnosis and localisation of lung infections. Assessment of interstitial lung diseases (specifically sarcoidosis and fibrosis).
Lung scintigraphy with 67Ga
INMUNO-12 · 13

Lung scintigraphy with ⁶⁷Ga / Lung tomoscintigraphy (SPECT/SPECT-CT) with ⁶⁷Ga

Description: Assessment of inflammatory and infectious activity in the lungs.

Preparation

  • No prior preparation is required.
  • No fasting required.
  • The patient must return after 48 hours for image acquisition.

Indications

  • Diagnosis and localisation of lung infections.
  • Assessment of interstitial lung diseases (specifically sarcoidosis and fibrosis).
  • Assessment of patients with AIDS.

Test duration

2 days.
