ATRYS strengthens its position in Nuclear Medicine with the acquisition of SIMM
17 December 2021

ATRYS HEALTH, a Spanish company providing precision medical diagnosis and treatment services and a pioneer in telemedicine and next-generation radiotherapy, announces the acquisition of 100% of SIMM Molecular, S.L., a company dedicated to medical diagnosis through molecular and metabolic imaging and a European benchmark in nuclear medicine. ATRYS will finance the transaction with its own funds and will not need to issue new shares.

The acquisition, which will be finalised in January, will consolidate ATRYS's position as a benchmark in the diagnosis of oncological diseases and in the fields of pathology and oncohaematology, genetics, diagnostic imaging and high-precision radiotherapy. It will also strengthen the Group's network of nuclear medicine centres, which also includes Hospital Lusiadas in Porto and its units in the Portuguese towns of Braga and Santa Maria da Feira.

SIMM Molecular, S.L. was founded in 2017 by Dr Isabel Roca and Dr Joan Castell, its current medical directors, who will remain at the head of the project and, together with their team, will lead ATRYS's Nuclear Medicine Area in Spain.

SIMM expects to close 2021 with a turnover of around 3.7 million euros –33% more than the previous year– and an adjusted EBITDA of 900,000 euros.

According to Santiago de Torres, Chairman of ATRYS, “the acquisition of SIMM allows us to add a reference centre, both for its quality of care and its research activity, to our nuclear medicine network. Nuclear medicine is essential both for diagnosing cancer and for planning the high-precision, single-dose treatments provided by our network of oncology centres.”

Nuclear Medicine encompasses oncological and non-oncological diagnostic techniques, as well as new oncological metabolic therapies, or theranostics. The theranostic concept, based on combining diagnostic imaging and therapy with similar radiopharmaceuticals, is already being performed by SIMM and has enormous growth potential.
