ATRYS-SIMM opened its new Nuclear Medicine service at the ATRYS-SIMM SJD centre, located in the Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona (PCCB) of Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Esplugues de Llobregat, with cutting-edge equipment and facilities for the diagnostic imaging and treatment of various conditions, specialising in developmental tumours and other oncological and metabolic diseases.
In the field of oncology, the new facilities make it possible to advance in the treatment and research of paediatric tumours, also known as developmental tumours, while in the field of metabolic therapy the centre incorporates the latest strategies in endocrinology and radioimmunotherapy to increase the specificity and efficacy of treatments. Its two metabolic therapy rooms place the ATRYS-SIMM SJD Centre in a privileged position to apply the novel theranostic techniques (combined diagnosis and therapy with the same radiopharmaceutical).
This is the first dedicated paediatric oncology centre in Spain and the second in Europe, making ATRYS-SIMM a leading centre in Paediatric Oncology in Europe. Its opening represents a major step forward in the diagnosis, treatment and research of developmental tumours and other rare and complex diseases.
According to the Executive Chairman of ATRYS, Santiago de Torres Sanahuja, “This collaboration is further proof of our commitment to excellence, to improving quality of care and to diagnostic accuracy”.
